“So much of our personal experiences, aesthetic, and understanding of what makes a space really great is the foundation of our artful design!” Mary Calvin

Here’s a sampling of some of the most frequently asked questions by Cabinet Innovations’ designers and clients:

How do I start a project?

  • To guarantee the best quality customer care, we prefer clients to first schedule an appointment with one of our experienced designers. This gives homeowners the opportunity to ensure that our product, designers, and ideas are the same as our clients’ anticipated expectations.
  • When meeting at here at Cabinet Innovations, Houston’s Exclusive Wood-Mode Lifestyle Designs Showroom, we ask homeowners to please provide any existing plans, measurements, photographs, and/or inspiration photos.
  • From here, you are on your way to a state of the art custom dream kitchen!

What does a kitchen designer do?

A kitchen designer is trained in the details required to professionally execute the technical aspects of the design while developing a plan that is unique to each client.

What does an interior designer do?

An interior designer is an integral part of the overall plan and design. The kitchen designer, interior designer and client work together as a team to choose the finishes, styling for the cabinets, appliances, countertops, backsplash, flooring and wall color for the project.

Can I get a free estimate on my cabinets?

A free estimate is available when existing plans and measurements are offered by the client. The estimate will be provided based on selections made from our showroom after a scheduled appointment.

Will a kitchen designer come to my house?

A designer plans a site visit once a budget has been established, preliminary selections have been made, and a design deposit has been paid.

Why do I need a contractor?

Contractors help your remodeling process move smoothly. They know what is needed for each individual project, and know what is needed to create a realistic budget. Contractors coordinate all of the subcontractors (i.e. electricians, countertop installers, plumbers, etc.) according to the projected timeline of a project.

How does Cabinet Innovations work with my contractor?

They work directly with the contractor on the scheduling, confirmed measurements and appliances. They communicate with the contractors throughout the entire process to ensure that everyone stays on schedule.

How long does the design process take?

Approximately 3-4 weeks depending on the scope of the project, and your needs.

How long does it take to get my cabinets after I order?

Brookhaven’s lead-time is typically 8-10 weeks, but will vary based on peak order times. Wood-Mode has an average lead-time of 10-12 weeks, but will also vary based on peak order times. Custom finishes may also affect lead times.

How are cabinets shipped?

Cabinets are shipped on a Wood-Mode truck directly from the factory to our distribution facility.

How are cabinets packaged?

Cabinets are wrapped in padded, heavy-duty packaging. Some items may be transported in a crate to ensure proper delivery.

What about damaged cabinets during shipping?

Any items that are damaged during shipping will be replaced, no questions asked.

Are my cabinets insured?

What is the difference between Wood-Mode and Brookhaven cabinets?

Wood-Mode
Wood-Mode Inc. has been manufacturing cabinets since 1942. The first cabinets were a traditional face frame cabinet; so named the 42 series. In 1984,   Wood-mode added a European frameless cabinet to the Wood-mode lines so named the 84 series.  Frameless cabinets have been the cabinet of choice in our market since their inception. There is not a better constructed or finished cabinet on the market no matter the price point. Wood-Mode is a state of the art fully custom cabinet.

The company is continuously upgrading and expanding the line to include the latest in hardware, finishes and design. They will build anything that we design as long as the engineering department approves it. That means if they build it –  they guarantee it. The numbers of finishes, door styles and wood species create an un-matched array of combinations for the discerning customer and application.

Wood-Mode offers traditional framed construction with the door mounted on a front frame, traditional framed construction with door set in the frame and contemporary frameless construction with the door mounted directly to the cabinet case.

Standard construction features include:

  • Stained and painted finishes applied in multi-step processes
  • Adjustable shelves that seat firmly into place on integrated clips
  • Solid maple or walnut dovetail drawer boxes
  • Full-extension under-mount drawer slides for a wider interior storage space, with soft-closing action and special stops to prevent the drawers from being pulled out
  • Framed cabinets are constructed of furniture-quality plywood for outstanding durability and are lined with easy-to-clean natural maple veneer. Concealed, self-closing hinges open a full 125 degrees and adjust for precise door alignment or exposed decorative hinges that open a full 180 degrees.

Frameless cabinets are constructed of furniture-quality particleboard for maximum stability and are lined with stain-resistant white or wood grain melamine. Furniture-quality plywood construction with natural maple veneer lining is also available. Concealed, self-closing hinges open a full 110 degrees and adjust for precise door alignment. For a more contemporary look, frameless cabinets are available with white or stainless steel metal drawers.

Brookhaven
In 1988 Wood-Mode Inc. decided to add a less expensive line of cabinets to the original Wood-Mode product line. Thus, Brookhaven was created. Over the years Brookhaven has developed into a fine custom cabinet with a less than custom price. An outstanding value, Brookhaven offers flexibility, special purpose units, the most popular door styles and a large selection of stains, glaze finishes, cottage finishes, woods and veneers. Brookhaven can meet a modest budget or can be embellished to rival any other custom cabinet in it’s class. For many of our clients, it’s the cabinet of choice.

Brookhaven cabinetry by Wood-Mode offers offers traditional framed construction with the door mounted on a front frame, traditional framed construction with door set in the frame and contemporary frameless construction with the door mounted directly to the cabinet case.
