Every year we are grateful to have the chics with us for Fall Artisan Market.  If you are not familiar with their mission and what they do…this is their story…

Grateful Chics™ Inspirational Gifts exists to create Peace, Love, and Joy through the practice of GRATITUDE.

People want to feel happiness in their everyday lives now more than ever. Many are confused about how to find joy and stay positive in challenging times. Our products are tools to stay focused on the good and for the purpose of better living.

We provide affordable, memorable, and meaningful gifts. These treasures affirm your daily gratitude and can be used at home, work, and on the go. Our products and services help you Live a Grateful Life™ and count blessings. We do all of this with devoted hearts, innovative minds, and vivacious spirits…after all we are Grateful CHICS !!!

O U R   S T O RY

There are interesting twists that have brought about the Grateful Chics™. The idea of a company with this unique product began in the mind’s eye of Joy. Inspired by a gift made for her in Summer 2008 (belo1st Grateful Bead Strandw). Both Tracy and Joy were at a place where they needed change, enlightenment, and more spirituality in their lives. The idea of the beads came while reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Life’s opportunities (God-incidences) brought them to this place of courage to go out on their own as Momtrepreneurs.

The Grateful Beads are a tangible piece to physically see and hold to remind you to think about the blessings in your life instead of the obstacles. The intention for all the Inspirational Gifts is to help you stay connected to your goodness, the goodness of God and the goodness that exists here on this planet in spite of and in glory over all the badness.

At first, Grateful Chics was more of a hobby with kids, other jobs and priorities taking precedent. Joy felt the call from God to move forward and rededicated her work life to revive this mission.  2012 was their best ever with a strong team, clear vision and a product line diversification into Journals, Stationery, Jewelry and more. Speaking of strong team, this is when Claire joined.

Joy and Claire have been friends since 2007 and thoroughly enjoy each other’s company. Committed to gratitude and being lifelong learners, their partnership promises great things for Grateful Chics™! With Joy’s business savvy and marketing experience and Claire’s creative eye, design experience, and online expertise, the two complement one another quite well. They have each been known to say of the other that “her strengths are my weaknesses”! (“and He has said to me, “My Grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.” 2 Corinthians12:9).

Joy Stevens – President & Chief Grateful Officer, Designer and anything else needed.

Claire says: Joy is one of those magnetic personalities that other people just WANT to be around her. She is extremely hilarious and loves to laugh. She is fun to be with and funny too. She’s beautiful inside and out and has a zest for life that no one can match. She lives her faith with such JOY and exuberance that she sends her happiness to others just by being around them! Talk to her and you will hear her faith in her words. Spend time with her and you can’t help but love her.

Joy is an amazing friend, wife, daughter, sister, and most especially, an amazing Mother. Her relationship with her daughter is so beautiful to witness. She is doing an exceptional job raising a thoughtful and loving little girl and you know that Gratitude is at the heart of her vocation as a mother. Joy is the perfect example of how to “Live a Grateful Life” ™! I am grateful for Joy in my life.

Claire Stuckey – Vice President, Designer, Etsy Guru

Joy says: Claire has always been a fun light to me. We met almost 6 years ago on retreat and stayed in contact getting closer and closer. I admire her as a Faith-filled, home-schooling mother of three. Our energy matched very well and I knew all along she was a Grateful Chic. God does that a lot for me and this time I paid attention.

We needed some new and fresh eyes for our expansion at Grateful Chics™. Claire knows how to create beautiful jewelry and is a master at all this social media stuff. She ran her own Etsy Shop, some direct sales and managed the household. Plus she is real and lives authentically. I asked her to join us here and she accepted right away. There are a lot of wonderful things to come forth at Grateful Chics, and without Claire, they are not possible!

For more information on the chics you can find them on Facebook, Etsy and their website www.gratefulchics.com – you will find them in our showroom for our Annual Fall Artisan Market on Thursday, November 12th from 11am to 7pm.

Houston Area Women’s Center

“What we want to do is provide women with relief from terror and a quiet freedom in which they can reconstruct their lives.” – From Houston Area Women’s Center Newsletter, Fall 1978

For over 35 years, the Houston Area Women’s Center has worked relentlessly to help survivors affected by domestic and sexual violence build lives free from the effects of violence.  Given our humble beginnings – we started with nine active volunteers answering donated phones – we are proud at how we have grown. Today, we have 115 paid staff, a counseling and administrative building, a residential shelter for 120 women and children, a state-of-the-art hotline call center and over 1,000 active volunteers.

Every year through the week of December 7th, we collect new unwrapped gifts and cash donations for the Houston Area Women’s Center.  Gifts range from clothing (adult, baby, kid), personal care items, toys, gift cards, cash/check donations, etc.  We take pride in being able to give the many families being housed by the center a happy holiday season.  Seeing the kids smile is priceless.  So, if you would like to be part of this, please come by our showroom and drop off any gift you would like to donate.

Featured Artist: Richard G. Eastman

Richard G. Eastman of Eastman Gallery will be joining us again this year.  We are thrilled to have his wonderful art work featured during our Fall Artisan Market.  Richard does more than just pottery; his work is truly breathtaking, his skills are phenomenal and he is pretty amazing to be around.  This is his story…

Eastman G20150919_132531allery

As long as I can remember, I have been fascinated with color. And the richer the color, the greater it attracts me.  As a small child, I spent a great deal of time with my grandmother who was a natural born artist.  She spent hours with me teaching me the joy of creating everything from painting to sculpting, not to mention planting and maintaining a beautiful flower garden.  That relationship and the love of art that she inspired, motivated me to become an Artist, Interior Designer, Architectural Space Planner and
Landscape Designer as well as a Published Poet.

The greatest moments in my life always include something artistic. Some of my favorit20141217_170028 (3)e memories include visiting with my friends while we create.  In my opinion, art is not only something beautiful to look at, but something that can produce major emotions in our lives and can elevate us to a level of consciousness that is difficult to measure.  I strive to create things that nurture the soul and cause reflection, things that bring joy and happiness into our lives on a major scale.  I think that is why I love to paint large paintings mostly; they are more encompassing and have a greater impact within a room where they are placed.  Creating beauty in the world is my passion; it is the most important thing in my life.  And though I have received several awards for my artwork, the greatest honor I can receive is when it is cherished by those who own it.

For more information on Richard G. Eastman and Eastman Gallery, you can visit his website: www.eastmangallery.net

In the mean time, you will find Richard and some of his beautiful pieces in our showroom on November 12th, 2015 from 11am to 7pm.

Featured Artist: SapoVela Soap Co.

This year we are excited to welcome another new artist to our Fall Artisan Market.  SapoVela Soap Co. is owned by Carlo and Mike AND this is their story…

“What goes on your skin matters as much as what goes in your body”

Like many,SapoVela hands we also grew up eating all kinds of conventional foods and using just whatever skin and hair products you see out there with no clue of what’s in them.  What we use on our skin here matters just as much as what we put inside our bodies. That’s why after lots of training and education we developed our own soap, deodorant & toothpaste, so we can use them without any concerns.

Our variety of handmade products have no phthalates, no parabens, no paraffin,no tallow, no any animal ingredients in general, never use palm or palm kernel oil, no aluminum or SLS and no fluoride in our toothpaste.

We craft these things with prepared & researched techniques and a pinch of love which is a powerful ingredient too that needs to go in there to produce a beautiful handmade product!

Today we are a growing small business focused on the making of premium artisan soap, paste deodorants, toothpaste and 100% pure soy candles.  We literally pour our heart in the creation of these recipes developed with natural and organic ingredients – such as; butters, phthalate-free fragrance oils, essential oils, non-GMO xylitol, aluminum-free baking soda…well, you get the idea.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Fall Artisan Market day and sharing our story with everyone!
You can follow us on Instagram (SapoVela Soap Co) and Facebook (SapoVela Soap Co) to keep up-to-date with all our sales and new fragrances.

Thank you!

Featured Artist: Katie Pira “Katie Got a Gun”

Fall Artisan Market is right around the corner.  This year we will be hosting our Annual Market on Thursday, November 12th from 11am to 7pm in our showroom.  It is open to the public, so invite your friends, family and coworkers and join the fun!

This year we have a few new featured artists joining us, one of them being, Katie L. Pira “Katie Got a Gun”

What is Katie Got a Gun?

Looking for accessories with a little more kick?  How about something that distinguishes you from the crowd? Since 2011, Katieturquoise tassel 2 Got a Gun has been creating some seriously one of a kind designs, all made with authentic, previously fired bullet casings.  Katie Got a Gun features some of the most unique boutique jewelry and accessories in Texas.

Her Story

Being a born-and-raised Texas girl, Katie got her first BB gun at seven years old.  Needless to say, she’s a crack shot.  After a round of outdoor target practice in the summer of 2011, Katie was picking up the discarded casings and suddenly realized that she couldn’t simply throw them away.  As she held the casings in her hand, she saw everything they could be and resolved in that moment to give them a second life as something beautiful.  After creating her first pair of earrings, she was hooked.  Since then, Katie has created dozens of beautiful designs that meld the raw power of bullet casings with the casual elegance of pearls, feathers and semi-precious stones.

If You Can Dream It…

While Katie Got a Gun does have a selection of ready-made creations for immediate sale, nothing excites and challenges her more than giving life to your custom vision. Do you have a bullet casing or shell that means something to you?  Maybe you want to commemorate your first hunting trip or honor a family member in the military?  We can help.  And remember, bullet casings aren’t only for hunters and cowgirls! While she offers traditionally rustic looks, Katie is also inspired by southwestern, biker, vintage, glam, steampunk and bohemian aesthetics.  If you can dream it, she can make it a reality.

If you have a certain piece in mind or just want to kick around design ideas, don’t be afraid to contact her and definitely come see her in our showroom on November 12th.
